Backing & Re-starting

Miri’s approach of working at the horse’s own pace has proven to produce horses that are happy and confident both in themselves, and under saddle. Incorporating ground work into the backing process allows the horse to truly understand every aspect of its training. Miri understands that not only is she able to ride the horse but an owner must also be able to effectively and comfortably enjoy training and riding. To achieve this Miri aims for horses to be confident and consistent in every step of their training; a horse shouldn’t feel forced into the ridden process. This approach fosters a positive experience which leads to a happy self assured horse starting out on its ridden career.

Problem Horses

“Problem horse” is a term used for a horse who does not/will not, for whatever reason – be it physical, psychological or behavioural – perform in the role intended. When dealing with these sorts of horses, in-depth analysis of each horse is required to get to the root cause of the issue. This may start with a full health check on arrival (if deemed necessary after initial assessment by Miri) from our team of professionals to rule out and potentially solve any possible physical issues. It is her belief that each horse deserves the opportunity to start afresh and just “getting on with it” is never the answer.

Groundwork Training

Groundwork is a way of training your horse’s mind and body through simple movement patterns and processes that encourage self-confidence and relaxation. Groundwork focuses on helping the horse to become more self-aware, responsible for their own body, and improve their ability to deal with everyday pressures.It enables them to have the answers to the questions we ask and encourages them to learn through positive experiences so they feel able to handle themselves under “pressure” and manage their flight instinct in situations that present themselves in daily life.

Clinics & Coaching

Miri is a UKCC Level 3 coach, fully insured with first aid certificates and DBS checked. She is also available to travel nationwide for clinics so please enquire if you would like to arrange something in your area. Training & Competition Livery

Hackett Equine offers customised livery packages that can also incorporate coaching into the weekly training to suit every horse and owners’ individual needs. This way the transition between training livery and the return home is seamless and no one is left with a newly trained horse that they don’t know how to ride because they have not had the opportunity to be part of the training process.

Rehab Livery

Rehab is a tricky process and if not given the care and attention is deserves horses can easily end up with reoccuring injuries. With our bespoke and individual horse first approach we can ensure that horse get the best possible chance at recovery. As well as our calm and peaceful atmosphere, large stables and ample staff we also have a turn out pen that can be used for controlled return to turn out and with our team of trusted professionals we have a brilliant support network to help your horse back to ridden health.
